Geomembrane: The "Invisible Shield" of Chinese Manufacturing

As infrastructure projects multiply along the Belt and Road, and as global environmental engineering demands higher anti-seepage standards, Chinese-made geomembrane has emerged as the silent guardian of major construction sites.


During the Super Shipping Season on Made-in-China.com, geomembrane manufacturers from across China have demonstrated their strength through technological innovation and professional service. Here are their出海 (global expansion) stories.


Story 1: Yantai Deking · The Seven-Year Journey to Turkey

Keywords: Long-term trust, cross-border brotherhood

Achievement: Secured the largest client in Turkey and established a long-term strategic partnership.


Back in 2017, Jet Lin started his own business. At that time, there was only one other geomembrane supplier on Made-in-China.com — yet that competitor had persisted for seven years. Jet Lin thought to himself: The platform must be generating continuous customer leads. No one would stay that long otherwise.


So he made the decision to join.


The first year was slow. But Jet Lin didn't give up. He answered every inquiry carefully and built up a pipeline of potential clients through email correspondence. In the spring of 2018, he met Alper from Turkey — the largest client he would ever find on the platform.


"Alper is a kind person. He thinks the same way we Chinese do. He calls me 'brother'," Jet Lin recalls. From emails to WhatsApp, their communication never stopped. That genuine cross-border connection led to order after order — and a strategic partnership that continues to this day.

Story 2: Longxiang Group · The Laos Power Station Breakthrough

Achievement: Secured over 30 orders in the first month of the year, including a 100,000㎡+ geomembrane contract for a power station in Laos.


In early 2026, Longxiang Group kicked off the new year with a "golden start" — overseas orders grew 40% year-on-year. At their warehouse in Anshun High-tech Zone, production director Zhong Hua pointed to a shipment ready for dispatch: "Three days ago, we sent out over 20,000 square meters of products — a rush order for a power station construction project in Laos. The total contract exceeded 100,000 square meters!"


Behind this flood of orders lies solid manufacturing strength. At the end of 2024, Longxiang fully commissioned a new, state-of-the-art plant built with an investment of 200 million yuan. The facility can produce HDPE geomembrane up to 12 meters wide — the widest specification available in Southwest China.


"Wider rolls mean fewer seams and better leak prevention. This is a huge advantage for large-scale projects like tailings ponds and reservoir dams," says Zhong Hua.


Today, Longxiang's products are used in power stations, reservoirs, and environmental facilities across multiple Belt and Road countries — transforming from a regional supplier into a reliable partner for international infrastructure projects.


Story 3: Haoyang Environment · Chasing the Order from a Trade Show to the Factory

Keywords: Technological innovation, Belt and Road深耕

Achievement: First-half revenue up 40% YoY, exports up 60%, products sold to 70+ countries and regions.


"At every exhibition we attend, we must launch new products — that's how we keep customers chasing our orders," says Liu Hua, deputy general manager of Haoyang Environment, with clear confidence in his voice.


In 2025, at a China International Mining Expo, a customer from Uzbekistan showed strong interest in Haoyang's products. Remarkably, the customer traveled directly from the expo in Tianjin to Haoyang's factory in Yucheng for an on-site inspection — and ended up signing an annual order worth 30 million yuan.


Such "customer-chasing" stories are no accident. Haoyang invests over 6.8% of annual revenue into R&D. At the end of 2020, the company pioneered a world-first technology: online double-sided spray roughening for 10-meter-wide geomembrane, which more than doubled production efficiency. In the first half of 2025 alone, seven specialized products were launched, tailored for extreme cold regions, hydrometallurgy, oxidation ponds, and other demanding applications.


"Take our salt lake mining geomembrane as an example. Compared to conventional products, it offers 20% higher tensile strength, 60% better impact resistance, and 50% higher puncture resistance," Liu Hua explains.


Today, Haoyang exports to over 70 countries and regions. Orders for 2026 are already booked through August, with every production line running at full capacity.
